S-75 DVINA MISSILE (Trumpeter)

This is a 1:35 scale Trumpeter kit of the S-75 Dvina surface-to-air anti-aircraft missile on a launcher.

The USSR built over 4500 of the launcher units alone, with thousands more missiles. The missile went into production in 1957 and has been used successfully to defend against bombing raids by invaders. The first kill by the Dvina was a US spy plane operated by the Taiwanese over China in 1959. The missile was used to shoot down the CIA's U-2 spay plane on 01 May 1960 inside the USSR. The Vietnamese PAVN used the weapon to great effect against invading US bombers during the US war against Indo-China. I built it to look like the one used in Cuba to shoot down the USAF U-2 spy plane on 27 October 1962.

The launcher is gently weathered, and the missile is new from the factory. This was a mail order kit from China. It goes together very well. The gloss white paint is water-based. Decaling the missile took a rather long time. This has won an award.
