This is a Hobbycraft kit of the famous
MiG-17F #3020 as flown by four different ace pilots of the
People's Air Force of Viet Nam (PAVN). It flew with the 923rd Fighter Regiment.
The model is now owned by the largest private library of books in the USA on the US wars in Indo-China. The entire surface is covered in bare metal foil. It is not silver paint. Only the interior, nose and undercarriage areas are painted. The canopy was coated in Future floor wax, making it far too easy to see into the cockpit, then trimmed with foil strips. I bought the kit from the Hobby Center consignment section for $16, then paid that much again for enough bare metal foil to try covering the entire aircraft!
