WOOLLY MAMMOTH - MAMMUTHUS PRIMIGENUS

This is an unknown scale from an unnamed Chinese toy company of a Woolly Mammoth  (Mammuthus Primigenus) skeleton. It needed a lot of work to remove the layer of odd crackle paint coating. The right rear leg was broken and reset to make the posture proper and the model stand upright.

The Woolly Mammoth lived in what is now Manitoba and Ontario, and died out abut 10 000 years ago. It is shown as it would have appeared about 100 000 years ago in Manitoba. A partial mammoth with tissue was recently found in Grunthal Manitoba, and was so fresh that blood protein was isolated from the carcass.

UPDATE: This model placed third in the giant CAPCON biennial model contest on 28 September 2019 at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. (Collections - Theme (5 models of dinosaur skeletons and fossils))
