TFX FB-111 FIGHTER-BOMBER (Entex)

This is the delightful 1975 release of the Entex 1:144 scale TFX (FB-111) Fighter-Bomber. The kit originally sold for about $1, and was remarkably well detailed with engraved panel lines. Panel lines were accented using a black ink pen.
The decals had long ago become dust, so were replaced by decals from the IPMS Ottawa decal bank.
The actual aircraft was used to carry nuclear weapons for both Strategic Air Command (SAC) and Tactical Air Command (TAC) of the US Air Force. The aircraft was also used by the RAAF of Australia.

RED KNIGHT of VIENNA (Monogram)

The Red Knight of Vienna is a re-re-re-release of a late 1950s kit, and is now presented by Monogram/Revell in 1:8 scale as part of a series of knight kits.

The basic paint is Vallejo metalizer "Burnt Iron" Inside the helmet is a fully-painted head sporting a cheesy red moustache. The golden eagle is done with a Japanese art paint pen. The base in the kit is boring, so I added gesso and texture.

It took a second place ribbon at the IPMS Ottawa April out-of-box contest.

C'THULHU MONSTER (Reaper Miniatures)

This is an unknown scale C'THULHU monster from Reaper Miniatures in their Bones Series. (Kit #77194). I bought it at the IPMS Ottawa swap meet on Wednesday 07 Feb and painted it over the weekend. It is abut 20 cm high, and 24 cm long. It was lots of fun and very different from anything I have ever built before.

J-3 HUDSON 2-3-2 STEAM LOCOMOTIVE (Monogram)

This is the Monogram 1:87 scale (HO railroad scale) plastic model (Kit #1105) from 1982, which is an original release of a snap-together kit.

The wheel arrangement was invented in France were it was known as the Baltic locomotive, but renamed in North America as the Hudson type. It is a 2-3-2 axel arrangement. This particular model is of the J-3 locomotive which premiered in September 1937, and is displayed as it appeared near the end of WWII.

Canadian Pacific Railroad was the second-largest user of Hudson types in North America. Sixty-five of the engines were built by Montreal Locomotive Works (MLW) between 1929 and 1940.
The basic black coat is Alclad black primer. The weathering is from Vallejo powders. White and silver details are from paint pens. The interior is sprayed primer grey. The interior has been painted with brass tube and handles and dials.

I bought the kit at a model expo in a mall in Aylmer Quebec on Saturday for $10. I built it on Sunday, and had the detailing finished on Monday. On Tuesday I finished the painting and weathering of the track base. Hello Wednesday. It was a fun weekend project.
